Our Area: West Cornwall, From Hayle to Wadebridge

Luna Maintenance Ltd is based in Hayle, and our area covers West Cornwall. To the west it runs through St Ives Bay, Penwith and the Lizard peninsula. To the east and north it takes in Falmouth, Truro and Perranporth, as far as Wadebridge in the Camel valley.

Eleven towns have their own page, but the farms, hamlets and villages between them are all part of the same area. Wadebridge is our northern limit, and we travel there for the right project.

Why a West Cornwall Contractor Knows the Ground

The ground changes a great deal across West Cornwall. Penwith granite often lies close beneath the fields, the Lizard is built on serpentine, the towns around St Ives Bay stand on sand and estuary silt, and Truro's valleys hold heavy clay. Each one changes how a foundation is dug, how a base is built up and where the water goes.

That knowledge comes from working this side of the county, and it goes into every site visit and every written quote we prepare. The same close team of five, led by Ross Kitto, carries out the work in every town, on our own machinery.

We also understand the farming calendar here, which is why we work 7am to 7pm, seven days a week.

Our base on St Ives Bay. Sandy towans and estuary ground shape the foundations, driveways and farm work out towards St Erth.

Carbis Bay

Steep plots and holiday homes above the beach, reached by tight lanes that suit our 2-tonne mini diggers.

St Ives

Narrow streets and a conservation area, where access and planning are worked through before a machine is booked.

Penzance

The hub of Penwith, with granite close to the surface, wet valley ground and working farms inland of Mount's Bay.

St Just

St Just in Penwith, mining country, where old workings and hard granite are checked before any dig begins.

Land's End

Exposed granite farmland at the tip of the peninsula, where tracks and farm buildings take the full Atlantic weather.

The Lizard

Serpentine rock, livestock farms and equestrian yards, with lanes that narrow towards the coves.

Falmouth

Hillside streets and waterfront plots, where retaining walls, levels and drainage come before any surface.

Truro

Heavy clay around Cornwall's only city, with new-build groundworks, drainage and driveways across the surrounding parishes.

Perranporth

Dune sand behind the beach, bases for holiday parks, and farmland inland around Goonhavern.

Wadebridge

The northern edge of our area, where we take on Camel valley farm buildings, yards and drainage for the right project.

Farm and Equestrian Groundworks Across West Cornwall

Farm and equestrian work leads what we do, in every town on this page. We build horse arenas, take on complete agricultural groundworks, put up agricultural buildings from the pad to the frame, and lay farm tracks, farm concrete yards, and silage clamps and slurry stores. Each project is planned around your stock, your machinery and the ground on your holding.

Questions About Where We Work

Which towns in West Cornwall do you work in?

Eleven towns have their own page: Hayle, Carbis Bay, St Ives, Penzance, St Just, Land's End and The Lizard in the west, then Falmouth, Truro, Perranporth and Wadebridge further east and north. Our base is in Hayle, and the same team and the same fleet of machines work across all of them, along with the countryside in between.

Do you cover villages without their own page?

Yes. The town pages mark out our area, but the villages, hamlets and farms between them are covered too, from St Erth and Marazion to Goonhavern, Constantine and St Keverne. If your village is not named anywhere on the site, call us with your location and we will confirm whether it falls inside our area.

Will you travel beyond your listed towns?

Our area runs as far as Wadebridge, which is our northern limit, and we travel there for the right project, usually larger farm and groundworks schemes. Anywhere between the listed towns is covered as normal. For projects beyond Wadebridge, call us and describe the job, and we will tell you honestly whether it is one we can take on.

Do you work on farms across West Cornwall?

Yes. Agricultural and equestrian groundworks are the core of our work, from Penwith granite farms to Lizard livestock holdings and Camel valley farms. We build arenas, farm buildings, tracks, concrete yards, silage clamps and slurry stores, and we work 7am to 7pm, seven days a week, so projects can be planned around stock and the season.

Does the price change depending on where I am?

Every price is built from the job itself: the work involved, the ground conditions, the access, the materials and the machines needed. We set all of it out in a written quote after a free site visit, before any work starts, so you see exactly what the price covers wherever in West Cornwall your project sits.
