About Luna Maintenance: Expert Groundworks Contractors in Hayle
A West Cornwall groundworks and plant contractor led by Ross Kitto, with 29 years in the trade behind every job, a close team of five and a fleet of our own machinery.
The Luna Maintenance Story
Ross Kitto started in the trade at twenty and learned what every good contractor learns: the quality of a job is decided in the ground, long before anyone sees the finished surface. In 2023 he formed Luna Maintenance Ltd in Hayle to bring that experience under one name.
Farm work sits at the heart of it: the groundworks for steel-frame agricultural buildings and the frames themselves, stable bases, silage clamps and slurry stores. One farm customer is now on their fourth project with us in two years, and that kind of repeat work is the measure we care about most.
For homeowners and landlords across West Cornwall we also lay driveways, patios and hard landscaping, and our machines are available operated or self-drive to farms, homeowners and builders alike.
What We Stand For
ReliabilityWhen we agree a start date, we keep it. Our machines are our own and ready to go the moment your job is, and the team you meet at the site visit is the team that does the work.
CourtesyWe are working on your farm, your yard or your home, often round livestock, family and a working day. We keep you informed, respect the way your property runs, and leave the site tidy at the end of every job.
The customer firstWe listen to what you need before we tell you what we would do, and we explain the options plainly so you can decide with everything in front of you.
Exceptional standardsWe look at every detail, down to the smallest, from the drainage and the sub-base to the levels and the final finish. That is what sets an exceptional job apart from an ordinary one.
A Close Team of Five, Led by Ross
Luna Maintenance is a team of five, led by director Ross Kitto. Keeping the team small means the people who quote your job are the people who build it, and everyone on site knows the standard we work to.
Between us we cover plant operation, groundworks, concrete, drainage and surfacing, so most jobs are carried out entirely by our own people from the first dig to handover. Customers often mention the team by name:
“Really impressed with Ross, Tom and the team. They did the project promptly and charged exactly what they quoted, even doing a few extra bits for me whilst they were on site.”

Our Own Fleet, From 14 Tonnes Down to 2
The biggest difference between us and many contractors is simple: we own our machinery. Our fleet includes:
- A 14-tonne excavator with a rotating head and iDig machine control, plus a tree shear, breakers and a whacker plate
- A wheeled digger
- Two 2-tonne mini diggers for tight access
- A 1-tonne dumper
- A Valtra 250hp tractor with a dump trailer
- A flail attachment and a post hole borer
Because the plant is ours, it is ready to go the moment your job is. The right machine is on site for every stage, and the same machines are available for operated or self-drive hire.

Our Promise to You
Every job starts with a free site visit and a written quote that sets out the work, the specification and the price before anything begins. We then deliver to an exceptional standard, with every detail of the groundwork considered before anything goes on top, and we finish with a walk-round so you can see the work for yourself.
It is a simple promise, and it is the standard every job we take on is held to.
What We Do and Where We Work
We are based in Hayle and work across West Cornwall, from Land's End and The Lizard to Truro, Perranporth and Wadebridge. See every area we cover.
Hayle
Our base on St Ives Bay. Sandy towans and estuary ground shape the foundations, driveways and farm work out towards St Erth.
Carbis Bay
Steep plots and holiday homes above the beach, reached by tight lanes that suit our 2-tonne mini diggers.
St Ives
Narrow streets and a conservation area, where access and planning are worked through before a machine is booked.
Penzance
The hub of Penwith, with granite close to the surface, wet valley ground and working farms inland of Mount's Bay.
St Just
St Just in Penwith, mining country, where old workings and hard granite are checked before any dig begins.
Land's End
Exposed granite farmland at the tip of the peninsula, where tracks and farm buildings take the full Atlantic weather.
The Lizard
Serpentine rock, livestock farms and equestrian yards, with lanes that narrow towards the coves.
Falmouth
Hillside streets and waterfront plots, where retaining walls, levels and drainage come before any surface.
Truro
Heavy clay around Cornwall's only city, with new-build groundworks, drainage and driveways across the surrounding parishes.
Perranporth
Dune sand behind the beach, bases for holiday parks, and farmland inland around Goonhavern.
Wadebridge
The northern edge of our area, where we take on Camel valley farm buildings, yards and drainage for the right project.
